Glossary
The words behind an AI team
Short, plain definitions — and how each one works in Squad.
- Act within your policies
- Acting within your policies is an option the owner turns on (Growth plan and above) that lets the team act inside confirmed rules without asking each time.
- AI agent
- An AI agent is software that takes actions toward a goal instead of only answering questions; in Squad, every action passes approvals, consent checks and receipts.
- AI employee
- An AI employee is one role on your AI team, such as a Bookkeeper or an SEO Specialist, with the skills that role needs for your company's work.
- AI team
- An AI team is the group of AI employees Squad builds for one company, with roles and skills taken from the work that company has planned.
- Approval
- An approval is the owner's OK on an outward action — a message, a post, a write to a system or any spending — before Squad carries it out.
- Company card
- The company card is Squad's summary of your business: what you sell, to whom, and how you make money.
- Company Diagnosis
- The Company Diagnosis is Squad's free first report on your company: your profile, hidden rules, ranked opportunities and the team it would build.
- Company-local skill
- A company-local skill is a skill Squad creates for your company when no generic skill fits, traced to the work it serves.
- Connector
- A connector is Squad's connection to one of your tools, such as Shopify, Stripe or Zendesk; it is read-only by default.
- Consent check
- A consent check is Squad's person-by-person check for recorded consent before anyone is contacted; if consent is unknown, the message is held.
- Content language
- The content language is the language Squad writes in for your company — posts, replies, documents — separate from the language of the app itself.
- Credit
- A credit is the unit that funds the AI team's work; each outcome shows an estimated credit cost before it starts.
- Custom API connection
- A custom API connection lets Squad work with any system that has an HTTP API, even when there's no ready-made connector; calls are allow-listed.
- Decision card
- A decision card is one decision written in plain business words, with one action button, "Ask Squad" and "Reject with a note".
- Feasibility check
- A feasibility check tests every initiative against your budget, your hours and your rules before any work starts.
- File bank
- The file bank is where your company's documents and meeting minutes are kept for the AI team to work from.
- Guardrail metric
- A guardrail metric is a number that must not get worse while the team works toward a goal, such as a margin floor you set.
- Honest stop
- An honest stop is what Squad does when something is missing: it stops and says what it tried, what is missing and the next step.
- Human in the loop
- Human in the loop means a person approves an action before it goes out; in Squad it is the default for everything outward.
- Kickoff
- A kickoff is the short meeting that starts every project, where the owner approves the plan the team will work from.
- KPI (key performance indicator)
- A KPI, or key performance indicator, is a number that shows whether the business is moving toward a goal; Squad reads it from your systems.
- Measured outcome
- A measured outcome is one number read from a connected system, with a target and a window of 30 to 90 days.
- Morning Brief
- The Morning Brief is a daily summary from Squad, sent to your own Telegram chat or by email.
- Needs your check
- "Needs your check" is the status Squad gives a claim that has no receipt from the system involved.
- Pilot scenario
- A pilot scenario is a complete simulated business used to certify Squad end to end; it is not a customer.
- Receipt
- A receipt is proof that a system accepted an action — a sent message, a saved draft, a changed price — and every claim in a Squad report is checked against one.
- Spending cap
- A spending cap is a per-company limit on how many credits the AI team can use.
- Top-up
- A top-up is a one-time pack of extra credits added to your plan's monthly credits.
