Have contracts and policies reviewed before they reach your lawyer
Squad's Legal Document Reviewer reads a contract or policy and returns one reviewed document: conflicts with your rules, missing items and questions for your lawyer.
In short
- The Legal Document Reviewer reads a contract, your terms or your privacy policy, read-only, from the file bank or your connected storage.
- You get one reviewed document: clauses that conflict with your confirmed rules, items that seem to be missing, and questions for your lawyer.
- Nothing is sent, signed or changed; this is preparation for your lawyer, not legal advice.
Squad’s Legal Document Reviewer reads a contract, your terms of service or your privacy policy and returns one reviewed document: clauses that conflict with your company’s confirmed rules, items that seem to be missing, and the questions worth asking your lawyer. Nothing is sent or signed. You take the result to your lawyer, better prepared.
Why review before the lawyer?
Most small businesses send a contract to their lawyer with a note that says “can you check this?” The lawyer then spends time finding out what your business does, what you care about, and which clauses matter to you — time you pay for.
A first review closes that gap. You arrive with the clauses that clash with how your business actually runs and a short list of specific questions. Your lawyer still decides what the contract means and what to change. You just spend their time on the parts that need it.
What do you need before you start?
- The document. Upload it to your file bank, or connect Google Workspace, Dropbox, Microsoft 365 for OneDrive, or Notion. All read-only.
- Your confirmed rules. The hidden rules you confirmed when you set up Squad — payments, data, platforms, your own policies — are what the reviewer checks against. See finding the rules before they bite.
- Your side of the deal. Are you the buyer or the seller, the landlord or the tenant? What worries you most?
How does it work, step by step?
- Point Squad to the document. From the file bank or your connected storage.
- Say what matters. For example: “Supplier contract. We’re the buyer. We care most about payment terms, delivery delays and how we can end it.”
- Approve the credit estimate. Contract review is deep work, so it gets a larger per-task credit cap. You see the estimated cost before it starts, and Squad asks before continuing past the cap.
- The reviewer reads. The Legal Document Reviewer compares the document with your company card, your confirmed rules and anything relevant in your file bank.
- You get one reviewed document, saved in your file bank.
- Take it to your lawyer.
What’s in the reviewed document?
- Conflicts with your rules. Clauses that don’t fit how you’ve said your business works — say, payment terms longer than the ones you confirmed you can carry, or a data clause that doesn’t match your privacy rules. Each one quotes the clause and names the rule.
- Items that seem to be missing. Things a document like this usually covers that this one doesn’t, such as how either side can end the agreement.
- Questions for your lawyer. Short, specific questions you can send as they are.
- Assumptions. Anything the reviewer had to assume, stated plainly so your lawyer can correct it.
It is one document, not a stream of comments. If the reviewer couldn’t read part of the file, that is listed too.
What stays in your hands?
Everything. Your documents are read-only; the original is not changed. Nothing is sent to the other side, nothing is signed, and nothing is agreed on your behalf. What you do with the review — and whether you sign — is between you and your lawyer.
What about privacy?
Contracts are sensitive. Connector keys are encrypted, each company’s data is isolated from every other company’s, and Squad is hosted in the EU (Ireland). Every capability has an off switch. Read more on the security page.
Where it stops
- Not a law firm, not legal advice. The reviewer prepares; your lawyer advises.
- No negotiation. Squad doesn’t send redlines or talk to the other party.
- An honest stop when the file can’t be read. If a scan is too poor to read or pages are missing, Squad tells you what it tried, what is missing and the next step, instead of reviewing half a contract.

Questions
Does this replace my lawyer?
No. Squad is not a law firm and this is not legal advice. The reviewed document helps you arrive at your lawyer with specific questions instead of a whole contract.
Will Squad edit or send the contract?
No. Your documents are read-only. Nothing is sent to the other side, signed or changed in the original.
Why does a review cost more credits than a normal task?
Legal and contract review is deep work, so it gets a larger per-task credit cap. You see the estimate before it starts, and Squad asks before continuing past the cap.
